Eden Wood Ward 4
"A Fresh New Voice"
I am passionate about community. There is no better place to live than Burlington. Current council has worked hard, but there is more to do! Since becoming a mother, I am more appreciative of how a community works. Ward 4 needs a fresh new voice. I will make sure Burlington stays secure with balanced community growth and green space; expanding the climate action plan, affordable housing, and through transparency, have a ward we can all call home. Let me be YOUR VOICE on issues that matter to YOU and your FAMILY. Together, we can make this city AMAZING! I will be taking this job very seriously over the next four years. This is a FULL TIME JOB! I'm confident, as you get to know me and where I stand on these issues, I am the best fit for Ward 4.
Eden Wood- "For OUR Neighbourhood
I moved to Burlington in 2006. I knew right away, it was where I wanted to live and start a family. I have 2 beautiful children, and my partner Jerry, is a life long resident of Burlington. Since living here, I've been involved in various areas of the City and Region.
I first started volunteering with City Hall, and elected President on the committee, at the time was called: The Burlington Crime Prevention Committee. We tackled issues on vandalism and crime prevention by recognizing the importance of homeowners landscape and design. We also worked with the Victim Assistance Volunteer Program, assisted by the Burlington O.P.P. As a committee, we also had a float in Burlington's Santa Claus Parade.
I've been the Apprentice Supervisor with the Hamilton S.P.C.A., building the empathy of youth. I've had the honour of supporting Burlington Rotary; volunteering with Canada's Largest Ribfest. I've worked for Average Joe Sports as a volleyball convener, as well as play volleyball through B.A.S.L and A.C.R.A. I've also played Softball and Ultimate Frisbee. My children are members of the Burlington Soccer Club, and use many of the wonderful amenities Burlington has to offer.
While I was President of the Burlington Crime Prevention Committee I had the privilege of becoming a member of the Citizen Police Academy through Halton Regional Police Service, where good governance and transparency are front and centre.
I have received the award for Active Citizenship from Mohawk college, where I attended the Police Foundations program.
Before starting my family, I was a loyal employee for 10 years, working for Fisher & Ludlow/Nucor Grating. I've continued my education with courses in Accounting and Business Management through Sheridan College, in Oakville.
My knowledge and insight of policy and procedure in City Hall, make me the best candidate for Ward 4. Through good governance and transparency, I will be the best liaison for you and OUR neighbourhood.
